Some people can make travelling look effortless by arriving
at their destinations calm and refreshed, but that’s not the case for many of
us!
Our cheap and cheerful ‘travel hacks’ could help though!
Scan important documents before you leave
Save yourself a great deal of potential hassle by taking
copies of your passport, driving license, hotel reservations and travel insurance with
you. If any of these original items are stolen or lost while you are away,
you’ll find it easier to explain who you are and where you are staying to officials.
Use bubble wrap for your laptop
If you’re taking a laptop away with you but don’t want to
carry a bulky, heavy case then why not try a bubble wrap sleeve which can make
a great lightweight alternative. You can use a ready-made bubble wrap envelope,
many of which are usually robust and waterproof or simply cut a bubble wrap
sheet to size and seal the ends off with tape. This is also a great way of
disguising your laptop meaning that it’s less likely to attract the attention
of a thief!
Use a dryer sheet to keep your luggage fresh
Clothes often start to smell after sitting in a cold
suitcase for several hours so to avoid that musty feeling when you arrive,
enclose a tumble dryer sheet in with your clothes to keep them smelling fresh!
Take an empty bottle
Have you ever been asked to throw your newly bought bottle
away before you’ve even drunk half? This is what happens when you get to
airport security! Avoid wasting your money by taking an empty bottle of any
size through airport security. Once airside, you can fill it from a drinking
tap!
Pack a pen!
One of the most useful travel hacks is simply carrying a pen
that works with you while travelling! It can be incredibly frustrating when you
need to fill in a form or write down an address or phone number but find that
you don’t have a pen! Keep a pen in your pocket and avoid the hassle.
Take a portable charger
If you travel often, you might want to consider investing in
a portable USB charger. This is a device which allows you to charge your laptop
or mobile while on the go, meaning you don’t have to waste time sitting in a
café when you could be out exploring!
Take pictures of your valuables!
This may sound silly but if you are concerned that you may
lose an expensive smartphone or camera while travelling, take a picture of the
gadget and save it somewhere only you will know to access. This way you can
prove that the gadget is yours if it is handed in at your hotel’s lost property
office!
Use a drinking straw to carry jewellery
If you don’t want your necklace to become tangled or break
while you are travelling to your destination use this clever technique! Thread
one end of a necklace through a drinking straw, catch it at the other end and
do it up at the clasp. You may also want to consider using a pill dispenser box
for many items as this can act as a great organiser too!
