‘Safe’ places to store valuable items may actually be key targets for thieves, according to a new study.
More than one in eight Brits
hides their prized possessions in their sock drawer, according to a recent survey. A tenth stashed their valuables on top of their wardrobe,
while another one in ten hid them under the bed. Just over one in 20 even
admitted to hiding jewellery and other expensive items under the sink.
Even though it may be one of the
most predictable locations, the bedside table still made its way into the top
five stash spots in British homes.
But more than half of those asked
in the study admitted to storing cherished items in these places, making them
obvious targets for would-be thieves. Since a fifth had also been victims of
burglary in the past, the figures suggest it could be worth reassessing the
best hiding places in British homes to keep our precious goods safe.
